1. World Biofuel Day: 10 August.

Every year 10th August is observed as World Bio-Fuel Day to create awareness about non-fossil-fuels (Green Fuels), "World Biofuel Day" is observed every year on 10th August.
Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has started observing the World Bio-Fuel Day since 2015.

2. Hardayal Prasad appointed as the new MD & CEO of PNB Housing Finance.

PNB Housing Finance has appointed Hardyal Prasad as its new managing director and chief executive officer. He will take over from, Neeraj Vyas the current interim managing director and chief executive officer of the company, who will step down from the position on August 10.
Prasad is experienced in banking, International operations at SBI and SBI cards and Payment Service (SBI Card).

3. Delhi Govt launches a new "Electric Vehicle Policy".

Delhi Government has launched the 'Electric Vehicle Policy' for the national capital under which will waive registration fee, road tax, and provide an incentive of up to ₹1.5 lakh for new cars. The aim of this policy to generate employment to give boost Delhi's economy and reduce the pollution levels in the national capital.

4. 78th anniversary of the Quit India Movement.

The 78th anniversary of the August Quit India Movement, which is considered as one of the important milestones in the history of the freedom struggle of our country, is being observed on 8 August 2020.
on 8 August 1942, Mahatma Gandhi gave a call to end the British rule and launched the Quit India Movement at the session of the All-India Congress Committee in Mumbai. 
Gandhiji gave a call to "Do or Die" in his Quit India speech delivered at the Gowalia Tank Maidan in Mumbai.

5. P S Ranipse becomes the new IG of CRPF. 

IPS officer P S Ranipse has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG), in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He will hold the post on Central deputation for a period of five years from the date of joining.
He belongs to 1995 batch and was serving as Additional Director General (Vigilance) in Odisha. He held the position of Inspector General of Police in 2013.

6. Pradeep Kumar Joshi becomes the new chairman of UPSC.

Educationist Professor, Pradeep Kumar Joshi has appointed as the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC). He will succeed Arvind Saxena who completes his term as UPSC     Chairman.
  • UPSC Headquarters Location: New Delhi.
  • UPSC Founded: 1st October 1926.
7. New Comptroller and Auditor General of India: G.C. Murmu.

Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed as the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. He is the 14th CAG of India. He will assume office on 8 August 2020. He will replace Rajiv Mehrishi.

8. Manoj Sinha appointed as the new LG of Jammu and Kashmir.

India's President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Union Minister Manoj Sinha as the next Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He will replace Girish Chandra Murmu who resigned. 
Sinha has represented the parliamentary constituency of Ghazipur in eastern Uttar Pradesh trice in the Lok Sabha.

9. Sashidhar Jagdishan to be the new CEO of HDFC Bank.

Sashidhar Jadishan has appointed as the nest Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HDFC Bank by the Reserve Bank of India. He will replace Aditya Puri. He will take charge in Octobers when Puri retires.

10. Maharastra Government has tied up with Google to provide online classes.

Maharastra is the first state in the country that is launching such a project. This project has been launched by the Chief Minister of Uddhav Thackeray and will cover over 1.09 lakh government, Private, aided, and unaided schools, and benefit over 22.03 million students. Students and teachers will get access to Google Classroom and G Suite for Education that will provide solutions to support remote learning.
