1. Submarine Cable connectivity to Andaman & Nicobar Islands launched.

The submarine optical Fiber Cable (OPC) connecting Andaman & Nicobar Islands to the mainland has been launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The 2300Kms long submarine cable will boost the endless Opportunities in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by providing better internet & mobile connectivity.

2. Bangladesh will set up a war Memorial for Indian Soldiers.

Bangladesh has taken a decision to construct a monument for the Indian soldiers. The country will establish a monument for the Indian soldiers who died in 1971 during Bangladesh's struggle for independence from Pakistan. This announcement was made by Bangladesh was Liberation Minister Mozammel Haque.

3. International Day of the World's Indigenous People: 9 August.

United Nations observed the International Day of the Worlds Indigenous People on 09th August every year. The day is being observed to raise awareness of the needs of Indigenous people. The theme of International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples 2020 is 'COVID-19 and indigenous peoples resilience".
This day Commemorate the day, the Indigenous People and Development Branch- Secretariat of the Parliament Forum.

4. Flipkart Partners with the ODOP scheme of U.P. Government.

India's popular e-commerce marketplace, Flipkart has signed an MoU with one district, One Product (ODOP) scheme of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. This will bring the artisans, weavers, and craftsmen under the ODOP scheme into the scope of the 'Flipkart Samarth" initiative. This will provide artisans, weaver, and craftsmen under the ODOP scheme a momentum to expand their business online as they face social-economic challenges.

5. Khadi to set up the Silk Traning cum Production Center in A.P.

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) will open the Silk Traning cum Production Center in the tribal village of Chullyu in Arunachal Pradesh. This will be the first Silk Traning cum Production Center in the State. Machinery like handlooms, Charkha, Silk reeling machine would be installed in the training cum Production Center.

6. The GoI extends Line of  Credit worth 18 million dollars to the Maldives.

A-Line of Credit of worth 18 million US dollars has been extended by the government of India to the Government of Maldives. The Project will promote the Investment in the fish collection as well as the storage facilities. It also aims to set up a tuna cooked Plant and fishing plant, as fishing a deeply connected to the Maldives way of life.

7. DIAL launch online "AIR SUVIDHA' portal for International Passengers.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has launched a web Portal named " AIR SUVIDHA" for India-bound international passengers. The online forms have been developed in collaboration with various state governments, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and Ministry of  External Affairs (MEA).

8. GoI bans import of 101 defense items to boost Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

The Ministry of Defence has announced a list of over 100 items for import beyond the time indicated against them. The government has prepared a list of 101 items on which there would be an embargo on import to give a push to PM Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan (Self-reliant India Movement). It is estimated that contracts worth almost Rs 4 Lakh crore will be placed upon the domestic industry within the next six to seven years.

9. GoI launched National Portal "SURAKHSYA" on Human-Elephant conflict.

The Union Environment Minister, Prakash Javadekar has launched the National Portal on Human-Elephant conflict called "SURAKHSYA" to collect real-time information and will also manage conflicts on a real-time basis. This portal will help to set data collection protocols, data visualization tools, and data transmission pipelines. 
This Portal was launched during the celebration of the International annual event World Elephant Day. The World Elephant Day is celebrated every year on August 12 to create elephant conservation and share knowledge for better protection of wild captive elephants. This portal helps a lot to set data collection protocols, data visualization tools, and data transmission pipelines.

10. KN Ananthapadmanabhan promoted to ICC'S panel of umpires.

Indian Umpires, KN Ananthapadmanabhan has been included in ICC'S international panel of umpires following compatriot Nitin Menon's promotion to the elite Panel.
He has officiated in all major domestic events including the IPL, Ranji Trophy final between Bengal and Saurashtra last year, and even stood at both ends for a while after Shamshuddin got injured.
