1. National Programme 'Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan 2020-21' has launched.

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh VArdhan has launched a national program "Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, 2020-21" to popularize Science among school students of class 6th to 11th. This program is designed to identify the talent in the field of science and to promote the scientific acumen among the students.

This Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is an initiative of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) Vigyan Prasar.

2. World breastfeeding week 2020

The World Breastfeeding Week is marked every year in the first week of August, between 1 to 7 August to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding for mothers and infants.

The theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2020 is "Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet". This week is organized by WABA, WHO, and UNICEF since 1991.

3. World Sanskrit Day 2020 on 3rd August.

Sanskrit Diwas also know as World Sanskrit Day is celebrated every year on Shraavanpoornima i.e. the Poornima day of the Shraavana month is the Hindu calendar, which is also marked as  Raksha Bandhan. In the year 2020, this day is being observed on 3 August 2020. The day commemorates the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit and aims to promote its revival and maintenance.

4. Madhya Pradesh Minister launches the "Ek Mask-Anek Zindagi" public campaign.

Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister, Bhupendra Singh has launched a public awareness campaign "Ek Mask-Anek Zindagi" from August 1-15. The Scheme will spread awareness about wearing masks as prevention from Covid-19 infection.

Under this Campaign 

• The Mask Banks was established, where people can donate masks.
• A donation can be in the form of masks or funds which will be used to stitch masks through self-help groups. 
• Citizens also donate masks through NGOs in every district/urban body.

5. Andhra Pradesh government launches 'E-Raksha Bandhan'.

Andhra Pradesh Government has launched an innovative virtual cybercrime awareness program named "E-Raksha Bandhan" to create awareness among the public on Cybercrime across the State. With this online awareness program, the state government aims to train as many as 1 lakh women, girls and the general public up to August 31. Hence, the E-Raksha Banshan' will ensure the safety of women and children and in cyberspace.

6. "Bharat Air fiber Services" inaugurated in Maharastra. 

"Bharati Air Fiber Services" has been inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for HRD, Electronics, Communication, and IT, Govt of India, Shri Sanjay Dhotre. These services were inaugurated at Akola in Maharastra. This service is a part of Digital India.

7. Union Minister of MSME approves "Khadi Agarbatti Aatmanirbhar Mission".

The unique employment generation program "Khadi Agarbatti Aatmanirbhar Mission" has been approved by the Union Minister for MSMEs, Shri Nitin Gadkari. This program has been proposed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to make India Aatmanirbhar in Agarbatti Production.

He has also launched the Khadi's Gift Box of Silk Mask.

8. NASA & ULA launched Mars 2020 Perseverance rover Mission.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has launched the "Mars 2020 perseverance rover mission" with United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket to the Red Planet "Mars". The Mars 2020 perseverance rover mission was launched from space launch complex 41, at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

9. Kotak Mahindra Bank starts the 'Kona Kona Umeed' Campaign.

Kotak Mahindra Bank has announced the launch of a two-month-long campaign called "Kona Kona Umeed' with huge offers and discounts to lift up hope and optimism among its customers in the mindset of the coronavirus pandemic.

10. The United Arab Emirates became the first Arab Nation to open a Nuclear Power Plant.

The United Arab Emirates became the first Arab country to open a nuclear power plant, when the Unit 1 of the Barakah Nuclear Plant in Abu Dhabi, got operational on 31 July 2020.

This plant is powered by South Korean technology and is situated in the Al Dhafrah region of Abu Dhabi. It will produce 5.6 gigawatts of electricity.

11. Mohamed Irfan Ali named as President of Guyana.

Former Guyanese Housing Minister, Mohammed Irfaan Ali has been named as the President of the country. He is a member of the Opposition People's Progressive Party(PPP). He succeeds David Arthur (A.) Granger.
